I just love this video.

I have been a huge fan of the Beatles forever and while i was still a student with very little/no income i offered myself a 6 DVD Set Box called "The Beatles Anthology". You are being told the whole story of the best band ever, music playing in the background with original and rare footage from the very beginnings of the band. There are a lot of interviews with Paul, George and Ringo who told very intimate moments that tell you so much of how these guys have been the best friends ever and also had the luck to work together and do something they were passionate about. I think my favourite part is when the group first went to the USA. They arrived in NY and the fans at JFK went totally nuts and after that they toured some other cities. At the end they got a few days to rest in Miami. I just love this clip. It shows you 4 young men who seem to be the happiest ever, best friends, funny, playing pranks on each other and discover the world together. I love how they talk to their fans from their hotel balcony.

This video makes me smile a lot and also brings the occasional tear of happiness to my eyes. I just wish for them it could have stayed like this forever but all the pressure of this shady music industry tore something very precious apart and it makes me sad. So enjoy this!

And by the way: i think i got a huge crush on young Rino, he loos like a little puppy that you just want to squeeze and he has a gorgeous pout!

Today i got my new Diana F + Camera

Flipping trough my favourite blogs made me want to get back to the old school kind of photography. I am kind of a big fan of everything retro or vintage related and i think that the kind of pictures that you can get with a Diana F are of a totally different kind then the ones you snap with the newest most hichtech and overpixelled digital camera. I like the dreamy shades and tones and the stories you can tell this way.

So here are 2 photos of what i received today, the camera with a removable flash and to my surprise a very intersting book containing lots of picture galleries taken with this camera, vignettes, short stories etc. There are also links to internet sites where you can submit your pics, for contestants, for example, or just to share....

I couldn't wait to shoot away. Unfortunately there was only a black and white film left, but i hope to take my new friend to my upcoming trip to Canada and North-East USA...

Boston

In a couple of weeks i'll be visitng Boston, part of a road trip i have been wanting to do for 2-3 years at least, starting from Toronto - Montreal - Quebec - Bar Harbor - Boston - Cape Code - New Haven - (maybe NY City if there is enough time) - up the Hudson river - Niagara Falls and back to Toronto.

Anyway, how lucky i stumbled upon this little guide that will most certainly come in handy :

• I love a bargain. i'm also a huge fan of spending an afternoon digging through racks of clothes to find unique things to love. and last but not least, i like being kind to the environment. (reduce, reuse, recycle!)
  so, here is my list of the best vintage, thrift and secondhand boutiques in boston. if you're ever in the area, don't miss these fabulous places.

• poor little rich girl (somerville)
  this cute store, in the heart of davis square, sells both consignment and vintage apparel. it has a welcoming layout with clothes organized by size, fun knick knacks and retro decor. don't miss their selection of vintage gloves, earrings and hats.
  
• raspberry beret (cambridge)
  this semi-new shop (which also has a wakefield location) has great prices, quality vintage clothing and staff that are so helpful and friendly you'll want to be their friends. what more could a girl ask for?
  urban renewals (allston)
  i am always blown away by how organized and well-run this secondhand store is. it's also huge, (think warehouse) so you have to be patient and determined but the pieces are organized by color, so that helps. only con: no dressing rooms.
  
• the garment district (cambridge)
  this place is practically a boston/cambridge institution. they have a nice selection of vintage clothing, but can also be a great place to find a halloween costume. don't miss their dollar-a-pound downstairs but be prepared to dig.
  
• cafe society (brookline)
  this is an absolutely delightful store. the owner is a doll, the dresses are to die for, and the prices aren't too unreasonable. don't miss it.
